Okapi / Generic Giraffid
Okapi are a distant relative of the giraffe that is just a bit smaller than a your average horse. They're known for having a very long, bright blue tongue alongside big, fluffy ears and glossy, velvet-like fur and some really interesting patterning.
I'm certain that others have probably suggested giraffes, but this might be a better compromise considering how a long-necked giraffe anthro would certainly conflict with the established meshes and rig.
The current tigers need to be overhauled
I was playing Rack 2 for quite some time, but over that time, I eventually realized how strange the in-game tigers were.
Not only that, I realized that they don't look like their real-life equivalents!
They look so bizarre and look more akin to domestic cats than themselves. I ended up doing extensive observations between the Rack 2 tigers and their real-life equivalents, and I found out how the Rack 2 designs DO NOT MATCH AT ALL the real-life versions of this big cat.
This means that tigers in Rack 2 HAVE to be overhauled with more a realistic and less strange design than it currently is. (Maybe Fek is well aware of this and will do this kind of thing in Phase 3, but I just want to be sure so I made this topic anyways.)
First of all, the side profiles.
Rack 2 tigers:
(sorry I lowered the texture quality of these examples, or my computer will start to overheat (hoping for the 0.2.6 performance update))
vs Real-Life tigers:
I know Fek will probably update the whiskers and add new versions to the tigers (maybe including eyebrow whiskers), but there are a number of obvious problems with the current Rack 2 tiger designs:
-The stripes are too brown and need to be pitch-black.
-The ears are frickin HUGE, whereas the real-life tigers' ears are much smaller.
-Look at the bridge of the nose of the real-life tigers, and compare them to the Rack 2 versions. With the Rack 2 tigers, there is a sharp concave curve from their forehead to their nose (like a household cat or canine) rather than a BROAD flat slope you can easily see with the real-life tigers.
Next, their frontal profiles:
Rack 2 tigers:
vs Real-Life tigers:
OKAY! Some problems!
-The real-life tigers' noses are pink with a black outline instead of being completely black.
-The real-life tigers' eyes are slightly more spread apart than their Rack 2 counterparts.
-There are white sideways ovals on the backs of the ears of the real-life tigers, whereas the Rack 2 versions do not have them.
-There is a white outline on the bottom part of the real-life tigers' eyes, whereas the Rack 2 versions do not have them.
Sorry about scrutinizing the tigers, but they ARE an incredibly specific species with specific traits, and it much recommended that the tigers (and other big cats) in Rack 2 should be more accurate than they currently are. I know Fek will update existing species from the current alpha builds later on, but these pointers should be a good guide to show the need for such designs in this particular game to be accurate. Tigers, lions, leopards, jaguars, cougars (with a flatter face), and other big cats all have a broad, flat nose bridge (domestic cats, lynxes, caracals, and snow leopards have a slight concave dip in the middle instead), and such a head and its facial features will have to be modified in order to make each species look right.
Good luck, Fek!
Huzzah!
